We have a fixed number of free spaces for STFC-funded and self-funded PhD students. In the event that these places are oversubscribed, priority will go to STFC-funded students. All expenses are paid, including tuition, accommodation, subsistence (including a conference dinner), excursion and travel. Forms to claim back travel expenses (from STFC) will be given out during the summer school. Please register via the link below; students who have registered by 29th June will be informed whether they have received a free place in early July. (Please note that an email confirmation from this registration process does not guarantee you have received a place.) Any remaining STFC-funded places will be made available to eligible students on a first-come, first-served basis after then.
Students who are supported by their employer or a funder other than STFC are welcome to attend, and may register either for the whole week (residential) or for a single day. The residential rate includes tuition, accommodation, subsistence (including conference dinner) and an excursion. The 1 day-only rate includes tuition for the day (please specify which day), refreshments and lunch during that day. (The day-only rate does not include the excursion, breakfast or dinner.) The fee depends on your funder/residence status:
• Category A: Postgraduate students sponsored by bodies other than STFC, who meet STFC's residence requirements for eligibility for a STFC studentship [Residential: £465; 1 day only: £35]
• Category B: Postgraduate students who are employees of UK academic institutions (including Research Associates on fixed term contracts) [Residential: £465; 1 day only: £35]
• Category C: All other postgraduate students, including employees of Government Departments, Public Bodies or Industry [Residential: £885; 1 day only: £120]
Please email STFCsummerschool2018@soton.ac.uk to confirm your fee category before registering.
Registration is now open – registration (for both STFC and non-STFC students) is through the university’s online store. The free STFC places will be allocated in early July, so we ask STFC-funded and self-funded PhD students to register by 29th June. Any free places remaining at that point will be allocated to further STFC or self-funded students on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will remain open until Friday 24th August.
